Did you know?

  • FirstNet is led by a Board of Directors that understands and represents public safety – the Board has expertise in the fields of technology and mobile telecommunications
  • FirstNet has consulted with all 56 states and territories to deliver the coverage, capacity, security, interoperability and quality of service first responders need to communicate and share info in disaster and emergency.
  • FirstNet is harnessing the power of the private sector to build and operate the Nation’s first dedicated, public safety communications network – it is creating a public-private partnership that will deliver technology and innovation for years to come with no additional funding needed to deploy and operate the network.

“FirstNet is the first project of this magnitude and of this capability nationwide,” says Board Chair Sue Swenson in this video.  “This is a very important infrastructure project for public safety. People were insightful to see this needed to be a public-private partnership, because we needed to bring technology and innovation that is inherent in the private sector along with getting the needs of public safety built into that planning," she says.

"Success is delivering to public safety the capabilities they need to save lives – theirs and the public’s.”
