FirstNet and Emergency Management

Broadband reliability built in

Current communications systems used by responders in different agencies and jurisdictions often lack the ability to seamlessly interoperate during incident response and operations. Emergency management professionals often encounter communications failures or disruptions that hinder response efforts.

Interoperable connectivity

The FirstNet network will offer true priority to public safety users, providing mission‐critical, high‐speed data services and non-mission-critical voice to augment today’s Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems. It can also better enable you to:

  • Connect Public Safety Answering Points to and from first-responder resources, providing improved situational awareness.
  • Augment on-scene reports with images, videos, geolocation, and weather and traffic data
  • Track assets, such as vehicles and personnel

Through a robust consultation effort with states, territories, tribes, public safety associations, first responders, and its Public Safety Advisory Committee, FirstNet has relied on emergency managers as a guiding force in network planning to help ensure the network meets your needs.
