Brian Crawford is the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the City of Shreveport (LA). Prior to this appoint in 2015, he was a 29-year fire service veteran, serving previously as the fire chief in Shreveport and Plano, Texas. In his current role as CAO, Mr. Crawford is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the city and its various departments including Police, Fire, Public Works, and Finance through a $500 million annual operating budget and 2,800 employees. His vast public safety experiences includes Hurricane Katrina; the Charleston (SC) Sofa Super Store fire Post-Incident Review Team (2007); Commander of Louisiana USAR Task Force 1 operations in Tuscaloosa (AL) following an F-4 tornado (2011); Texas State Fire Marshall’s Office West Line-of-Duty Death Investigation Task Force (2013); and more than a decade as a flight paramedic. He is a Certified Public Manger© (CPM) through Arizona State University, Certified Emergency Manager© (CEM) through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP), and Fellow (FIFireE) with the Institute of Fire Engineers. Mr. Crawford serves as a commissioner and vice chair of the Louisiana State Police Commission. He possesses a Master of Arts in industrial psychology from Louisiana Tech University and a Bachelor of Science in organizational management from Wiley College.
