FirstNet Heads to the Mile High City for #APCO2017

Next week, the FirstNet Team will travel to Denver, Colorado to present and exhibit at APCO International’s 2017 Annual Conference. The conference includes attendees from all aspects of public safety communications and is a great opportunity to continue our dialogue with this community on the public safety broadband network.

Look for FirstNet board members and executives on a number of speaking sessions and panels over the conference’s three days.  If you are planning to attend APCO 2017 or are in Denver and would like to learn more about FirstNet, please plan on attending one or all of the following sessions:

Sunday, August 13

  • 2:45-3:45pm: “NG-911 and FirstNet.” FirstNet’s 911 Senior Advisor Bill Hinkle will discuss the integration of these next-generation emergency communications platforms.

Monday, August 14

  • 12:45-1:15pm: “State Plans and Next Steps.” Dave Buchanan, FirstNet’s Director of Consultation, will discuss all things state plans, including an update of the comment review process and the timeline through the end of the year. This “Presentation Theatre” will be held in the expo hall.

Tuesday, August 15

  • 8-10am: FirstNet Board Chair Sue Swenson will deliver a keynote address at the Distinguished Achievers Breakfast in the convention center’s Mile High ballroom.
  • 10:30-11am: FirstNet CTO Jeff Bratcher will provide a technology update and deep dive on the FirstNet core and lab during a “Presentation Theatre” in the expo hall.
  • 1:30-2:30pm: Join FirstNet Board Members Sue Swenson, Sheriff Rich Stanek, and Kevin McGinnis, as well as CEO Mike Poth and CTO Jeff Bratcher for the latest news on FirstNet in a lively townhall setting. 

Wednesday, August 16

  • 10:15-11:15am: FirstNet Senior Advisor Bill Schrier, FirstNet Director of Applications Mark Golaszewski, and local public safety reps will discuss innovation over the FirstNet Network. This session is extremely interactive and will discuss the future of FirstNet from applications to devices and beyond.
  • 3-4pm: FirstNet Director of Consultation Dave Buchanan will team up with staff from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to discuss the State Plans process.

FirstNet will also have a booth – Number 629 - in the expo hall, which is open Monday, August 14 and Tuesday August 15th from 10am to 5pm.  Come meet the staff, ask questions and learn how you can become a FirstNet subscriber!
