FirstNet Completes Successful Request for Information and Public Comment Period

WASHINGTON, DC - The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) has closed the window for responses to its September 17 Request for Information (RFI). FirstNet also closed the comment period for a Public Notice that was published in the Federal Register on September 24. Both the RFI and the Public Notice allowed stakeholders, including public safety professionals, regional, state, tribal and local jurisdictions, and the vendor community, to provide input and ideas on the development of the nationwide public safety broadband network (NPSBN).

FirstNet Board Takes Action Toward Achieving Program Roadmap Milestones

RESTON, VA – The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) Board took key steps today to ensure the continued success of its strategic program roadmap and enable FirstNet to move toward a comprehensive acquisition strategy for the nationwide public safety broadband network. The FirstNet Board approved resolutions designed to generate valuable perspectives from public safety, industry, and the general public on important foundational issues regarding the development of the network.

FirstNet Board Approves Spectrum Lease Agreement With The State of Texas

WASHINGTON, DC – The First Responder Network Authority’s (FirstNet) board today approved a spectrum manager lease agreement with the state of Texas, allowing the state to continue work on a local public safety broadband network in Harris County. FirstNet will lease Texas spectrum usage rights to operate on the 700 MHz public safety broadband spectrum, the single, nationwide license which was granted to FirstNet by the Federal Communications Commission.

FirstNet Holds First State Plan Consultation Meeting in Maryland

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) today joined public safety communications officials from across Maryland to hold the first in a series of meetings with all 56 states and territories working together to build a nationwide public safety broadband network. FirstNet Finance Committee Green-lights Work on Program Roadmap

WASHINGTON – The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) Board’s Finance Committee today approved Fiscal Year 2014 (FY14) guidelines that will enable FirstNet to advance the implementation of its program roadmap. The adoption of Finance Committee Resolution 2 will fund key activities – including business strategy development, network development, outreach and consultation, and operating infrastructure – in FY14 toward achieving the roadmap’s milestones. The Finance Committee held a special meeting via a public teleconference.
