FirstNet Authority Receives Another "Clean" Audit Opinion for FY18 Financials

May 3, 2019

For the sixth consecutive year, the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) has received an unmodified, or “clean,” audit opinion on its financial statements.  Achievement of a clean audit opinion for Fiscal Year 2018 continues the trend of zero material weaknesses and zero significant deficiencies related to this audit.  Furthermore, no management level control deficiencies were identified.

These consistently clean audit opinions reflect the dedication of the FirstNet Authority’s financial team, which works diligently to apply policies and procedures that continuously strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.

This audit continues to demonstrate the FirstNet Authority leadership’s commitment to maintaining a sound financial management control environment, with reliable financial reporting practices and a dedication to excellence in the execution of our mission, fostered by our partnerships within the Department of Commerce.

As the FirstNet Authority continues to move forward, our financial management team will remain strong fiscal stewards over the public safety resources that are entrusted to us.  The FirstNet Authority will continue to ensure the delivery of a dedicated network for our nation’s first responders and engage with the public safety community to advance the network based on their needs.

An independent auditor conducted the audit, and the FY 2018 Financial Report can be accessed here.
