FirstNet Authority Continues Trend of “Clean” Audit Opinion for FY 2019 Financials

April 21, 2020

For the seventh consecutive year, the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) has earned an unmodified, or “clean,” audit opinion on its financial statements.  Achievement of a clean audit opinion for Fiscal Year 2019 continues the trend of zero material weaknesses and zero significant deficiencies related to this audit.  Furthermore, no management level control deficiencies were identified.

The FirstNet Authority team is dedicated to fulfilling our critical public safety mission to ensure the building, operation and maintenance of the FirstNet, the nationwide public safety broadband network. This includes being strong fiscal stewards over the public safety resources entrusted to us. Consistently clean audit opinions are one way we support this effort.

FirstNet Authority leadership remains committed to ensuring a sound financial management control environment, with reliable financial reporting practices. We work diligently to apply policies and procedures that strengthen internal controls over financial reporting. There is shared dedication to excellence in the execution of our mission -- from each business division within the FirstNet Authority and supported by the Department of Commerce.

The FirstNet Authority will continue to ensure the delivery of a dedicated network for our nation’s first responders and engage with the public safety community to advance the network based on their needs.

The audit was conducted by an independent auditor and the FY 2019 Financial Report can be accessed here.
